About Me
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a Registered Supervisor in the state of Idaho and a Clinical Professional Counselor (CPC) in the state of Nevada. I received a Master of Science degree in School Counseling in 2013. I opened my own private practice in 2014 and have since worked with all ages in this setting. I also worked as a high school counselor for several years and then I went back to school and earned a Doctor of Education in Counselor Education and Supervision in 2019. After graduation, I then spent about a year working as a post-doctoral researcher on a National Institute of Health (NIH) grant. I am grateful for the diverse experiences I have had, but working with individuals in private practice is undoubtedly my favorite work. I am also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RTY-200) and enjoy the benefits of mindfulness, meditation, and nature in my work and personal life. I am a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist, a Certified EMDR Therapist and a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.
Being a counselor is an honor. I learn from each client I work with and consider it a huge privilege that people choose to share their lives--often some of the hardest parts--with me. I truly love this work.

April is one of the most ethical, thoughtful, and authentic humans I have ever met. She has a keen ability to make you feel so at ease and accepted no matter what the topic is. April has a steadiness and calmness to her spirit and elicits such warmth. She has an intrinsic power to not only see strengths and silver linings in situations, but to reflect them in the most genuine way but to encourage you to stretch and grow. She is courageous, honest, insightful, compassionate and incredibly empathetic. I trust April beyond measure when it comes to her clinical insight. I couldn’t recommend her enough." |
I have known April for over two decades. Even at a very young age it was very evident to me that April was drawn to helping others and trying to make sense of the complexities of the human experience. April displays a strong sense of ethics and seeks to foster hope and nourish the expectations of change, but her promises are tethered to facts. Her approach to therapy is integrative, allowing her to work successfully alongside a variety of clientele. Some of the most valuable characteristics that April embodies are her ability to empathize, accept, and honor the humanity of every individual." |
... more about me
When I am not wearing my counselor hat, I am outside as much as possible, ideally with my family--my spouse, daughter, and our dogs. I was born and raised in Idaho and consider myself lucky to call it home. Some of my favorite things are hiking, climbing mountains, and skiing. I am a proud Idaho 12ers completer and slowly working on finishing the Idaho 11ers (there are 115, so it'll take me a while). I also love to cook, read, and meditate. I write about nature and all things mental health on my blog.
What sets April apart from other therapists is her ability to combine precise, thoughtful challenges with her warm, accepting manner. She is wise and welcoming--a truly gifted therapist. I would see April personally if she wasn't my colleague!" |
April is truly a gifted therapist. She has a warm, collaborative presence and connects with people immediately. I appreciate her genuine, caring nature and fantastic insight." |
Values
My work as a counselor with people from all walks of life, becoming a mother, and my experiences in nature have shaped my values and the way I spend money. I donate regularly to social justice and environmental organizations that work towards equity, conservation, and education. I am committed to giving back in the profession of counseling and provide no-cost and discounted supervision to future counselors and I've supported numerous counseling interns in providing reduced fee counseling to the community. I also provide sliding-scale counseling to a portion of my clients. Also, on my blog, my Instagram, and my resource page, I provide free mental health information.
