I’m Glad You’re Here
As a highly sensitive person and parent myself, I love to empower other HSPs (many of whom are also parents or preparing to become parents) to embrace your sensitivity. Being an HSP is a strength. The key is to develop self-knowledge, self-regulation, and self-advocacy skills to be able to thrive in a world not designed for HSPs. The same goes for parenting: parenting can be very stimulating! However, HSPs have so many gifts that can make us amazing parents if we have healthy boundaries and strong skills. I’d love to help you with this.
If you aren’t highly sensitive, I love working with you, too! I’m here to help with anxiety, trauma, healthy relationships with food and body, sleep, and perinatal mental health concerns, too.
My Focus

Meet April
I’ve wanted to be a counselor since I was in high school. My reasons have certainly evolved since then, but I still love to listen and consider it an honor that clients share the hard stuff (and the subsequent healing) with me.
I have a bachelor’s degree in English Writing, a minor in Environmental Studies, a master’s in School Counseling, and a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision. I love to learn! I opened my private practice in 2014 and have worked with ages 3-80+ in this setting.
I am a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Counselor (PMH-C). I’m also certified in EMDR and intuitive eating. I am licensed to practice in Idaho, Oregon, and Nevada, and licensed to supervise other counselors in Idaho and Oregon.
You will also read about Sara Gourley, LPC on this website. Sara is a highly skilled counselor who works for my practice. She has many overlapping specializations and availability much sooner. You can read more about her here.
