Perinatal Mental Health

Perinatal mental health includes pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, the immediate postpartum period, and beyond. Some people say the postpartum period never really ends; others say it’s the 12 months following childbirth.

You love your baby (or toddler, or kid, or teen!) but you have a feeling things could be better. Perhaps you had a traumatic pregnancy, birth, or postpartum experience and it still effects you, your parenting, or your family. Maybe you have some shame or rage related to these struggles. Maybe you’re in the thick of it right now and you need to feel better quickly.

Maybe you are wondering if you might have a perinatal mood/anxiety disorder (like postpartum depression or anxiety). Many parents do! Maybe–like many parents–you struggle with intrusive thoughts that are hard to say out loud. These are very common conditions and nothing to be ashamed of, and people like me are here to help with this very thing.

Becoming a parent is one of the biggest transitions an adult (or family/couple) will ever go through, and I am passionate about helping clients through it and even thrive. I am a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Therapist (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International and a mom myself.

I’m also a Certified EMDR Therapist and find this to be very helpful in many situations when clients have had birth trauma or any trauma that’s impacting their parenting (no matter how long ago it was).

I offer EMDR intensive sessions for targeted, isolated trauma. These usually take place over the course of three hours (we do take at least one break), via telehealth.

I won’t judge. I want to help you love and be present for parenthood–for your own benefit, but also for your family’s.

“You are worth the quiet moment. You are worth the deeper breaths and you are worth the time it takes to slow down, be still, and rest.”
