Counseling for Depression

You know there could be more to life, but you just can’t seem to find the energy or motivation. Simple tasks are harder than they should be. You don’t seem to enjoy the things you used to enjoy or wish you enjoyed. It’s really hard to be present.

Depression can have many causes: trauma/PTSD, situational factors out of your control, life stressors… even genetics or chemical imbalances can play a role.

No matter the cause(s), we are here to help you sort through depressive symptoms until the fog lifts. We know it can take time, and we are patient. We want to know you are not alone.

We rely on mindfulness techniques, parts work, and EMDR to help you get “unstuck”. If one thing doesn’t seem to help, we will keep trying until something does.

Sara specializes in depression; you can read more about her here.

“You aren’t a machine with broken parts. You are an animal whose needs are not being met. You need to have a community. You need to have meaningful values […] you need to have meaningful work. You need the natural world. You need to feel you are respected. You need a secure future. You need connections to all these things. You need to release any shame you might feel for having been mistreated.”
-Johann Hari, from his book Lost Connections
