Lesson 2: Give Yourself a Break
Every cast member takes time off for the show! They put their jobs and lives on hold for the chance to find love (and maybe increase their Instagram following, to be honest).
There has to be an element of giving themselves a break and creating space for a new chapter.
Similarly, I invite you to give yourself a break, however you can. If you are able to work from home, great, but how can you take some pressure off of yourself?
There are very biological reasons that our brains are struggling to be as productive as normal right now. We are only human, after all. If you are still going to work (not working from home), the same applies--in what areas of your life can you give yourself permission to do less?
I see a lot of really great content on social media lately about ways to be productive: start a home workout plan, spend more time working on nutrition and meal prep, learn how to play an instrument, create some art. If you feel good doing those things right now, that is wonderful.
But I also want to state clearly that you do NOT have to emerge from this pandemic with a new skill or a different body. (Side note: are you following any accounts that are making you feel like crap? Unfollow them!)
We’re going through a tough time--an unprecedented, weird time—and we really do need to cut ourselves some slack.
Action Item: Spend 5 minutes journaling about possible ways you can give yourself a break!
Here are some possible journal prompts:

Here are some possible journal prompts:
- What parts of my day do I most look forward to? And which parts do I most dread? What can this tell me about areas I may be able to take a break from?
- What can I do when I "take a break"?
- How comfortable do I feel with giving myself a break? Many people struggle with feeling guilty-- do you as well?
